Sylver CPA, PLLC’s supreme effort is to be a recognized leader in enhancing the business performance of small to mid-range entities.
Sylver CPA, PLLC is a certified public accounting firm based in Durham, North Carolina. Although recently founded, the managing member, Donna Sylver, has over twenty-five years experience in the accounting and consulting field and has been a licensed CPA since 1995. The firm offer services primarily to small and mid-range businesses. The professionalism, customer service, integrity, and timeliness have created a track record of success. The continuing education as well as the long-term experience establishes expertise across several industries including banking and credit unions, churches and other non-profits, manufacturing, health care, hazardous waste, radio and television, professional and other service industries.
Our philosophy is if our clients are successful as a result of our service, then we are successful. This success starts by establishing a relationship with our clients - becoming a complementary resource and an extension of our clients’ business to help them realize their goals. We accomplish this objective by listening to our clients, by appropriately planning, staffing, and customizing the engagement, by providing quality work performed in a timely manner, and by availing ourselves as an ongoing resource and consultant.
The firm's professional staff attends seminars, conferences, and other programs of professional development and continuing education to enhance their education and work experience, and is a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (SCACPA), and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The firm is in compliance with the registration and permit requirements for the practice of public accounting in North Carolina.
Sylver CPA, PLLC also has a commitment of service to the community, evidenced in both monetary contributions, as well as volunteerism. Donna Sylver serve on boards, committees and in other volunteer capacities such as My Sisters’ House (domestic violence shelter), 10-Year Results Plan to End Homelessness in Durham Project, board of trustees of North Carolina Wesleyan College, board of directors of St. Joseph Historic Foundation, and the Durham Performing Arts Center Oversight Committee.

Donna Sylver, previously named one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking by U.S. Banker in 2005, is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 25 years of diverse financial services experience encompassing leadership roles in manufacturing, banking, and a broad range of other services, including consulting, healthcare, and communications. Proven areas of expertise include: strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting; investor relations; bankruptcy and turnaround management; payroll and human resource management; information technology; treasury and risk management; mergers, acquisitions, and divestures; audits; and internal and external financial reporting.
Sylver is a frequent invited speaker at regional and national conferences, seminars, and workshops in the financial services industry. She is also a winner of the Triangle Business Journal’s prestigious 2006 Women in Business Award, and a recipient of the 2006 Triangle United Way Women’s Leadership Council Award.

Sylver holds a B.S. in Accounting from North Carolina Wesleyan, a Project Management certification from American Management Association, and a MBA from the Executive Program at Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of the Financial Executives International, American Woman’s Society of CPAs, Financial Women International, Business and Professional Women, the National Association of Female Executives, and state associations of CPAs in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. She serves on the Gerson Lehrman Group, Financial Services Council of Advisors. She is a past member of the boards of directors of My Sister's House (a domestic violence shelter), and of Freedom Community Development Corporation, and served on the committees of the American Institute of CPAs Depository Institutions Expert Panel, the American Bankers Association Securities and Exchange Commission & Corporate Governance Committee, the MBank Council, the Business Development Subcommittee of the Parrish Street (Black Wall Street) Advocacy Group, and the 10-Year Results Plan to End Homelessness in Durham Project Committee. Currently she serves on the board of trustees of North Carolina Wesleyan College, the Treasurer and board of directors of St. Joseph Historic Foundation, and a committee member of the Durham Performing Arts Center Oversight Committee.
